SUMMER INTERNSHIP
PROGRAM
Each year, Runway of Dreams hosts a virtual 8-week summer internship program (mid-June through early August). Our summer internship program consists of career development workshops, a summer speaker series with professionals from the Adaptive apparel industry, insights into the inner workings of RoDF, and a summer long, team-based internship project. Typically, interns spend 10 hours a week, working collaboratively (on Zoom) and independently through the guidance and support of Runway’s leadership.
INTERNS HONE VALUABLE
LEADERSHIP, COMMUNICATION,
AND BUSINESS SKILLS
INTERNS HAVE WORKED ON A VARIETY OF PROJECTS SUCH AS:
-
Running a first-of-its-kind virtual Adaptive Fashion Show, along with a how-to resource manual as a guide for college clubs to host their own virtual shows
-
Internship Pitch Challenge where interns created their own Adaptive apparel specific to a pre-existing company's brand, leaning on market research and human-centered design.
-
Building the model for our high school and college club programs
-
Organizing and moderating a virtual expert panel discussion, along with a how-to resource guide for future virtual panel events
-
Fundraising and amplifying Runway of Dreams' mission on social media
F.A.Q.
Is this internship virtual?
-
Yes, this internship is virtual and will take place via Zoom. We will be offering some in person events for those who are located in/near the NYC area.
What is the weekly schedule and time commitment?
-
Our interns meet Monday - Thursday on Zoom for about 2 hours a day from 10am - 1pm ET. Fridays are used as independent work days, meaning interns will use Friday to catch up on work with their teams and meet with their assigned mentors.
Is this internship paid?
-
Yes! We are extremely grateful to the Jordan Fund for sponsoring our internship this summer. More details on pay will be announced later on.
What kind of work will we be doing?
-
As mentioned above, our interns will be divided into teams to complete a summer long pitch challenge. In 2024, our project was on pitching Adaptive lines to trendy companies. Each team was tasked with conducting market research, creating Adaptive designs, calculating budgets, and honing communication skills.

2022 SUMMER INTERNS

THE SUMMER 2021 INTERNS had the challenge of creating and moderating a panel discussion event with industry experts in the adaptive space and Gamut Management models. The purpose of the panel discussion was to inspire and empower students studying fashion, rising design innovators, entrepreneurs and anyone in the industry interested in learning about the need for adaptive clothing and power of fashion inclusivity. Also, the interns created a how-to resource guide for Runway of Dreams’ College Clubs to replicate nationwide.
