A FASHION
REVOLUTION
Runway of Dreams kicked off New York Fashion Week on September 14, 2020 with a Virtual Adaptive Runway Show that will make you #RethinkTheRunway! Over 1200 guests tuned in to join us in celebrating inclusion, applauding innovation and highlighting people with disabilities in fashion.
We were thrilled to have Tommy Hilfiger himself introduce the Show and disability activists and YouTube sensations Shane Burcaw and Hannah Aylward Burcaw serve as our masters of ceremony. Other special guests included Steve Way from Hulu’s “Ramy,” Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen (who lost his left arm in a 1984 car crash) and his musician wife Lauren Monroe who performed their powerful new song, “Big Love” with the musical talents of Steve Ferrone from “Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers” and legendary musician Kenny Aronoff.
But the highlight of the evening was the Runway Show that featured 25 stunning models of varying abilities strutting their stuff wearing adaptive clothing and shoe lines by Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive, Zappos Adaptive, Target, Kohl’s and Stride Rite.
The models included gold medal snowboarder Brenna Huckaby, activist Grace Strobel, empowerment speaker Brandon Farbstein and author Keah Brown, as well as people from around the world who have wheelchairs, walkers, arm/leg braces or live with progressive diseases.
